Hypocaust

This system originates from Roman antiquity and was initially used only in thermal baths, but later also in Roman houses in general. Today, it still refers to the same principle.

The heating element warms the air circulating in a double-walled, closed system. This air, in turn, warms the outer firebrick lining, which then radiates healthy heat into the room for hours. The use of firebrick as the outer shell creates ideal heat retention. Depending on the size of the stove, this can last for up to 4-8 hours. This calm, comfortable warmth (no air circulation in the room) is perceived as very pleasant. It neither dries out the air or depletes its oxygen levels, nor does it stir up dust.

This system is not only excellent for allergy and asthma sufferers, but it is also the perfect solution for low-energy and passive houses.
